The Oceans In Action 2025 Workshop is an in-person event featuring the marine science and technology research efforts along the Gulf Coast that transform into operational missions worldwide. Following the success of the larger, OCEANS 2023 Conference, the workshop will host presentations from locally based federal agencies, state-led initiatives, and high-tech companies. This year’s event will once again highlight the results of the Advanced Naval Technology Exercise (ANTX) vignettes that occurred in the Gulf of America in 2024. In addition to the Department of the Navy, these vignettes are supported by NOAA, USM, and LSU and are the results of testing new technologies in an operational scenario.
Hosted by the Marine Technology Society’s Gulf Coast Section and the Mississippi Enterprise for Technology, the workshop takes place along the thriving Mississippi Gulf Coast and offers a number of networking opportunities for marine science and technology companies.

Event Details
GeoHab (Marine Geological and Biological Habitat Mapping) was established in 2001. This annual forum brings together scientists from around the world who are developing new methods and procedures to link remotely sensed data (acoustic and optical data, collected from satellites, drones, boats, autonomous underwater vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, etc.) with seafloor geology and marine biology within a geospatial environment. This approach underpins sustainable management of the ocean and seafloor resources. The overall theme of the 2025 conference is Habitat Mapping in a Time of Climate Change, and session topics include (but are not restricted to) climate change effects on marine habitats, coastal and shallow-water habitats, management and communication, new approaches and technologies, participatory mapping and citizen science, polar and sub-polar environments, shelf and deep-sea habitats, and urban seas systems.
GeoHab meetings are run in a different country every year. GeoHab 2025 will be held in the beautiful and unique Florida Keys, a location known for the richness and diversity of its marine habitats and also highly vulnerable to the consequences of climate change. The conference venues were carefully selected to showcase Key West’s natural and cultural histories, including the San Carlos Theater, the Audubon House & Tropical Gardens, the Oldest House, and the Little White House. We also hope to be able to arrange a visit to the Dry Tortugas National Park to share the beauty of the habitats it protects with our guests.
To present your work at GeoHab, submit an abstract by January 17th, 2025 (see template on the website)! If you are a student, the applications for the Ron McDowell’s Student Awards, which cover all costs to attend the conference, are also due on January 17th, 2025. For more information, visit www.geohab.org/keywest2025!

he State of the Coast (SOC) conference is the largest statewide conference of its kind, providing an interdisciplinary forum to exchange timely and relevant information on the dynamic conditions of Louisiana’s coastal communities, environment and economy. The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) produces this forum, the need for which grows with every acre of land lost to the Gulf of America, along with our partners: the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana and the Water Institute.
