The Gulf of America provides a way of life for those who work, live, and play here and is the foundation for many of the nation’s economic drivers, including energy, shipping, seafood, and recreation. These benefits depend on healthy water resources. The Water Resources Team enhances and sustains this vital natural resource by advancing our understanding of the relationship between water resources and stressors to water quality.

- Protect water resources within the Gulf of America watershed by advancing innovative and improved science and technologies, supporting nature-based solutions, improving education and environmental awareness, and enhancing partnerships
- Identify, prioritize, and pursue data, information, and research needed to better address challenges caused by knowledge gaps and emerging issues
- Initiate and support activities to identify and understand the interconnectedness of water resources issues and how they contribute to healthy communities and a productive Gulf
